Yesterday was a bit of a gluttonous food blur. Vancouver’s 5th Annual Taste of the City event is the perfect opportunity to sample some of Vancouver’s most popular restaurants with tapas sized portions from one to four dollars. So on a warm sunny Saturday, I decided to see how much food I could eat for twenty dollars. Here goes:

A chicken and meatball satay from Saté Satu, Modern Indonesian Cuisine.
A chicken skewer and salad with chili sauce from SIP resto lounge.

A crispy ahi tuna taco with wasabi-lime aioli from Joeys.
A soft taco served with wild mushrooms, goat cheese, pickled cabbage and fresh salsa from Lolita’s.

A simple and classic butter chicken from Ashiana Tandoori.
A tasty bbq pulled pork sandwich from Burgers Etc.

A trio of baby burgers (bbq, honey mustard and pesto) from Temptations, Templeton high school’s culinary program.
A deep fried banana covered in pastry and shellacked with sugar from Goldilocks.

A chocolate covered waffle with fresh berries from Patisserie LeBeau.
A duo of mousses: a asparagus mousse with micro greens and prawn and for dessert, a goat cheese mousse with a blueberry compote from FigMint Restaurant and Lounge.
Having the opportunity to sample food from all these establishments was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

you missed out on the street treats fair here in toronto and i have to say that $20 was nearly impossible to spend at the event since they ran out of food so quickly! looks like yours was much more of a a success with some great variety that was much better for handling. let's just say rain didn't quite get the whole street food concept when they sent you off with half a melon filled with liquid and a spear!
the tuna tacos look good and so do the waffles. I've seen waffles like those in Thailand. They were all the rage.
